Board of Directors

Donna Allen (Board Chair) began volunteering with UNTIL in 1994 upon her retirement as an insurance executive. The loss of her brother to complications from AIDS gave her a strong, personal desire to participate in the Foundation's work. She was elected to the Board of Directors in 1997 and is currently serving as its Chair. Donna is also on the Board of Project Redwood, a social venue fund. She has a BS in education from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Stanford University.

David Landay is the founding director of www.SurvivorshipAtoZ.org, an online resource for people living with HIV and other life changing conditions. He was a founding member of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and was a Board member for the National AIDS Fund and the National Association of People With AIDS. David is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and the Harvard Law School. He is a former partner of the law firm of Landay and Miller and the former President of Williamsburg Life Insurance Company.

Kathleen Scutchfield co-founded the Until There’s A Cure Foundation with Dana Cappiello in 1993. She served as President for its first five years and currently holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the Board. Kathleen attended Sarah Lawrence College and Yale University and earned her degree in Fine Arts. She is a Board Member Emeritus of the San Francisco Ballet and a former National Committee Member of the Whitney Museum of American Art. She has also served on the Planning Commission of the Town of Woodside (CA).

Lance Pulido is a Chicago native and attended DePaul University, earning a BS in Finance degree in 2009. Lance currently works in private banking and is an active member in his firm’s Pride organization.

Sarah Scutchfield originally from the Bay Area, attended DePaul University and graduated in 2008 with high honors and a BA in Public Relations and Advertising. After working in Marketing for several years, she followed up her degree with a Graphic Design certificate from the Chicago Art Institute, and now lives and works in Austin where she specializes in Marketing, Branding, and Graphic Design.  

Remembering Helen Miramontes

May 9, 1931  - May 3, 2016
 
Helen was our inspirational leader from her first meeting with our founders over coffee in 1996 until the final board meeting she attended in January of 2016.  She joined our efforts because she felt that our mission encompassed factors that she cared deeply about – raising funds to provide care and services, to influence education and prevention, and to support vaccine development.  Helen increasingly supported our product-based endeavor because she saw in it not only a way to raise much-needed funding but also as a way to keep the public involved in the AIDS cause and to build awareness about HIV and AIDS.
 
Helen was instrumental in introducing the Foundation to as many of those in her network as possible.  She personally created relationships that will carry us on into the future and will influence our continuing work.  We met her fellow nurses, her co-members of President Clinton’s Task Force on AIDS, her “beloved adopted sons”, her doctor associates involved in medical research, her many friends, and her extended family.  She provided the imprimatur that allowed Until There’s A Cure Foundation to have a voice in HIV/AIDS community.
   
Helen was happiest about her association with the Foundation when she saw our efforts being recognized; for example when the San Francisco Giants MLB organization and the Giants Community Fund invited her to appear on the field during the 16th annual Until There’s A Cure special event baseball game.  It was very rewarding for her to see her cause and her Foundation recognized so publicly in the city she loved so much.
 
Helen never let us forget our objectives or lose our way.  She was the consummate teacher and leader who could chide us, laugh with us, and remind us that our ultimate goal has not yet been achieved.  Helen always signed her emails --- "We must become the change we want to see in the world." M. Gandhi.  In her honor, we will continue the fight... until there's a cure.
