#WearUNTILWeHaveHealthEquity
Wear it. Demand it. Live it.
HIV does not affect all communities equally. Systemic social issues like stigma, discrimination, racism, homophobia, and poverty act as barriers to universal HIV care and drive disparities in HIV diagnoses.
Black/African American people made up 12% of the US population and accounted for 37% of new HIV infections in 2022.
The southern US represents about 35% of the US population but accounts for over half (52%) of all new HIV diagnoses.
62% of all new adolescent infections are among girls.
70% of people living with HIV globally live in Sub-Saharan Africa. These global health inequities are a result of chronic underfunding of healthcare systems, children who are affected by the virus leaving the education system, and laws criminalizing HIV and homosexuality.
The only way forward is by recognizing these disparities and advocating for those most at risk.
Wear for all.
