Our Background A Simple Idea with a Profound Impact Fueled by concerns about the effects of HIV/AIDS on the lives of their children, two California mothers were inspired to create the Until There's A Cure® Foundation, a non-profit organization. Founded in 1993, the Foundation's expressed goal is to raise millions of dollars to:
The Bracelet is available in several different styles and materials including our original cuff style in silver plate, sterling, and stainless steel; African bracelets made from recycled PVC, bronze, and paper; and bracelets made from recycled aluminum. Retail Success The Foundation quickly gained recognition and increased sales significantly when The Bracelet was showcased at The Body Shop, Kenneth Cole, Ben Bridge Jewelers, and Virgin Megastores. The Bracelet continues to be sold in stores throughout the country. All proceeds from The Bracelet sales are directed to an HIV concern of the retailer's choice. This collaboration has had tremendous benefits for retail organizations as well as the Foundation. Since The Bracelet was introduced in 1994, nearly one million bracelets have been sold and over $9 million has been granted for HIV vaccine development, care services, and prevention education. Additional bracelet sales have supported Foundation awareness efforts including the creation and dissemination of informational materials, the development of Public Service Announcements, and the operation of Foundation AIDS awareness programs. Use of Funds
For those living with HIV/AIDS, the Foundation provides financial support for care and other services. Funds have assisted medical care providers, hospices, food delivery services, and social service agencies building support in the community for people with AIDS, so that compassion and care are the norm rather than the exception. For future generations, the Foundation advocates for AIDS vaccine development. A vaccine is the best hope for reducing the transmission of this deadly virus. Onward... Until There's A Cure The Foundation's Public Service Advertising campaign promotes the fight against AIDS with celebrity advertisements in leading magazines nationwide. Pro-bono advertisements appear in Entertainment Weekly, POZ, InStyle, Seventeen, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, ESPN, Shape, and many more. Until There's A Cure is one of the few organizations that continually promotes the cause nationally to those most at risk individuals 25 years old and younger and offers them a way to participate... by purchasing and wearing The Bracelet. The Bracelet reminds people of how much the HIV/AIDS pandemic has altered the lives of millions of individuals. Our nationwide public service ad campaign serves as a platform for education and compassion, and it helps support our retail stores in their efforts to sell The Bracelet. The Foundation has been joined by renowned physicians and scientists such as Dr. Seth Berkley of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, along with musicians, celebrities, athletes, and politicians, in our efforts to direct awareness to all segments of the population about the indiscriminate spread of this pandemic. The Bracelet has garnered tremendous national and international recognition and identification as a powerful symbol of remembrance and hope that we can work together... Until There's A Cure.
